"Over the past 30 years, we have relied upon the Council's advice to help us through some difficult issues. The staff has always been willing to listen, and we feel their advice has made a definite contribution to the success of our company."Direct "Hot-Line" Management Consultation

Our members can call anytime for assistance and sound advice from any one of our experienced staff members. What may be a first-time situation for you is likely a matter the Employers Council has dealt with many times. Working with over 500 employers gives our staff a depth and breadth of experience in problem solving and prevention that is not available from any other source.

"It has been delightful working with you. Once again, the services provided by The Employers Council are refreshingly amazing."Human Resource Policy & Employment Law Guidance

Personnel policy & procedure, Wage-Hour rules, ADA, FMLA, discrimination, payroll, performance reviews, handling terminations – these are only a few examples of areas where the Council staff is called upon for assistance and advice. The Employers Council helps employers find ways to improve results, eliminate problems, and reduce potential high costs associated with confrontation, administrative complaints, and litigation.

"It's a huge benefit to Utah employers to have an expert available who is up-to-date on workplace issues. Not only is the Council responsive, but its advice is well-grounded in common sense."Management Resource Materials

The Employers Council has a ready resource of sample employment forms (e.g., job application, EEO-1, checklists), and policies (e.g., harassment, electronic communications), and a prototype employee handbook, along with an extensive reference library including videos, books, survey data, and Council publications.

Employee Handbooks

An Employee Handbook is a good way to gather together and explain your company's philosophy, policies, and practices. The Council staff can thoroughly review your handbook and bring it up to date. This review includes suggestions of possible changes and written recommendations. If your company does not have the time, expertise, or interest in developing a first-time or updated handbook, our staff can write one for you.

Toolkits

The Employers Council has developed a collection of helpful Toolkits to assist you in efficiently improving your HR practices and policies. Members can receive these well-crafted toolkits electronically for convenience in customizing sample forms for your needs. Our Toolkits provide step-by-step instructions on how to handle potentially time consuming processes. Our current collection includes: Performance Appraisals, I-9 Administration, The Employee Handbook, Interviewing and Hiring, HR Checklists and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

HR Audit

Successfully administering the ins and outs of Human Resources is a difficult task, especially when you don’t know what you don’t know! The Council offers an onsite HR Audit services to help you become compliant in your practices and procedures at an economic price. Conducted by our experienced professional staff, the HR audit focuses on Staffing, Employee Communications, Compensation and Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, Recordkeeping and Retention, Discrimination and Harassment, as well as Employment Standards. To complete the process, an analysis of Audit findings is presented to the company.

I-9 Audit

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) prohibits employers from recruiting, hiring or continuing to employ individuals who are not authorized to work in the United States. To comply with the law, employers must complete a Form I-9 for all employees. The Form I-9 was developed to help employers verify individuals who are authorized to work in the United States by requiring employees to provide documents establishing work eligibility and identity. Employers who fail to properly complete the Form I-9 face penalties ranging from $110 to $1,100 per violation. In addition to ensuring undocumented workers are not hired, employers must avoid engaging in discrimination or “document abuse” by requiring employees to produce more documents than necessary under the laws to verify employment authorization. Penalties for document abuse also range from $110 to $1,100. Conducted on-site by the Council's experienced, professional staff, our I-9 Administration Audit will help gauge your organization's compliance with laws governing I-9 Administration.

Employee Opinion Surveys

Employee opinion surveys are an effective and efficient means of gathering valuable information useful in achieving organizational objectives. The Employers Council provides a cost-effective way to take your company's pulse through our employee opinion survey tool that can be easily tailored for your needs.
